What is the best budget video camera for small business needs?
I’m not going to dwell too much on the importance of video for your business. You can read about that from countless sources. From your website homepage to Youtube to Instagram stories; you can make video work for you. However, what many articles touting the importance of video don’t highlight is the cost of quality video.
A recent iPhone model will produce quite acceptable footage thanks, in part, to the digital image stabilisation tech that Apple has packed into the device. This stabilisation aims to reduce the shaky, amateur look that very often accompanies any handheld video production (especially smartphone footage). So nine out of ten times I’d fully recommend using an iPhone for your business video. It’s already there in your pocket, so why not? Well, are you happy for your business to be part of the nine out of ten? Or would you rather take that extra step to stand out?
Enter the DJI Osmo Pocket.
If you’re not familiar with DJI then I reckon you will be soon. Think Apple but for drones and specialty camera technology. As the world’s leading consumer drone manufacturer they’ve learned a thing or two about making video look good… especially 50 feet in the air. Their hardware and software work seamlessly to bring Hollywood style footage to consumer-level products.
The DJI Osmo Pocket, however, is not a drone. It is a small (like, really small) handheld, mechanically stabilised camera. This means: super smooth, professional-looking footage without any digital wizardry. This is what will set you apart. Although it may not seem like a big deal on the surface, steady footage says professional whilst shaky footage screams amateur (This doesn’t mean shaky footage is never appropriate however. More on that another time).
The camera shoots in a variety of formats including slow-mo and time-lapses. But it is the size and the stable footage that are the stars here. The Osmo Pocket really does fit in your pocket. Meaning you’re ready to shoot video anywhere. Take some clips at a company event, record a smooth tour of your office, or swivel the camera around into selfie mode to record a company vlog.
If you want to set your company video output apart from the rest, but aren’t ready to go fully professional, then the DJI Osmo Pocket might be the perfect camera for you and your business.
